Balloon Week

Balloon Challenge Week is a lively, fun-filled session where children work in two teams and take part in a series of entertaining balloon challenges. Always a favourite with the children, this class should have a great atmosphere, with plenty of encouragement, laughter and friendly competition throughout.

The challenges are designed to test and develop balance, hand-eye coordination, reactions and movement control, while introducing activities that require children to concentrate on more than one thing at a time. As the challenges progress, children will need to demonstrate focus, concentration and multi-tasking skills while keeping their balloon under control.

Some activities are completed individually, giving children the opportunity to concentrate on their own technique and challenge themselves, while others are completed in pairs, encouraging communication, cooperation and an awareness of their partner.

Encourage children to stay patient when a challenge becomes difficult and to keep trying rather than worrying about getting everything right first time. Celebrate effort, improvement and creative problem-solving as much as successful completion of each challenge.

Most importantly, keep the session energetic and enjoyable. Balloon Week is an opportunity to develop a surprising number of useful physical and thinking skills through simple, accessible games that children love.
